How We Support the Meaningful Mission of Imerman Angels

When Jonny Imerman was 26 years old, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. As he battled the disease, he had the support of his friends and family, but he wished he could talk to a cancer survivor his own age who understood exactly what he was going through.

In 2003, he created Imerman Angels, a nonprofit organization that provides free one-on-one support to people affected by cancer all over the world. Imerman Angels matches cancer fighters, survivors, previvors, and caregivers of any age, gender, and cancer type with a mentor – a survivor or caregiver who has faced the same type of cancer. The organization’s vision is to ensure that no one has to cope with cancer alone.

Our team at Simon Hegele Healthcare Solutions believes in Imerman Angels’ work, and we have built a meaningful partnership with the organization over the last ten years. We are honored to play a role in advancing its mission in the following ways:

Building Awareness

We promote Imerman Angels' program by wrapping our trucks with the organization’s branding and messaging. We hope that drivers who see Simon Hegele trucks on the road across the country will be inspired to learn more about Imerman Angels’ peer-to-peer support services.

Spreading Comfort

Cancer fighters often experience a metallic taste during chemotherapy treatment. Imerman Angels found that Lemonheads are especially effective in counteracting this unpleasant side effect and has partnered with the company to brand candy boxes with information about the nonprofit’s services. Simon Hegele is Imerman Angels’ logistics service partner, storing, shipping, and distributing Lemonheads to chemotherapy infusion centers and hospitals. Every year, we ship around 120 cases – or 3,000 boxes – of candy throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Offering Ongoing Support

Our entire team is proud to support its meaningful mission. To date, Imerman Angels has provided support to more than 28,000 cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers fighting over 146 types of cancer. Nearly 12,000 mentors serve people in every US state and more than 101 countries.
